Angelo Mathews Furious over ICC, On Just 4 Test matches for Sri Lanka in 2025

Sri Lanka's former captain, Angelo Mathews, was shocked to learn that the country will play only four test matches, including two against Australia, this year(2025). 

Angelo Mathews expressed his disappointment on the popular social media site X. He wrote that he was shocked to hear that Sri Lanka will play only four test matches this year, including the two test matches in the upcoming series against Australia. In his post, he also tagged the ICC.

Australia & WTC

Sri Lanka will play two test matches against Australia in January and February. The first match will start on 29 January, and the second will be played from 6 to 10 February at Galle International Stadium. This series could have been important if Australia had lost the last test match against India. With the result of this series, the trio of India, Australia, or Sri Lanka could have reached the WTC Finals.

Test Series against Bangladesh 

Sri Lanka will play the last two test matches of the year against Bangladesh from June to July. The dates have yet to be announced, but the series is part of both teams' upcoming schedules. 

Sri Lanka's WTC Performance

Sri Lanka's current World Test Championship cycle performance is a mix of victories and setbacks. With 45.45% points, the team is currently in fifth position. The team performed well against New Zealand and Bangladesh, where it clean sweeped the series, while on the other Sri Lanka lost all four test matches against Pakistan and South Africa.

Since his debut in 2008, Angelo Mathews has been one of Sri Lanka's best all-rounders. He has scored 8042 runs at an impressive average of 44.92, including 16 centuries and 44 hand centuries.

In his ODI career, he scored 5916 runs at an average of 40.24 and claimed 126 wickets in 226 matches.
