Akeal Hosein Joins West Indies as Spinners Shine in First ODI

West Indies’ left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein is ready to join the team for the ongoing three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. He is expected to arrive tonight as the team gears up for the second ODI, looking to bounce back after losing the first match by 74 runs.
"Akeal is expected to arrive tonight to join the ODI team," Cricket West Indies media officer Jerome Foster confirmed to Cricbuzz on Monday.
Earlier, the BCB announced that left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed has been added to Bangladesh’s ODI squad for the ongoing series against the West Indies. In the series opener, spinners from both sides played a dominant role in the low and slow surface prepared at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday and that has likely prompted Nasum's addition.

West Indies’ left-arm spinner Khary Pierre bowled really well, taking 1 wicket for just 19 runs in his 10 overs. Off-spinner Roston Chase also chipped in with 2 wickets for the visitors. But it was Bangladesh’s spinners who made the difference, with Rishad Hossain and Tanvir Islam sharing 8 wickets between them to help the hosts win the match.
Left-arm fast bowler Ramon Simmonds, 24, has been picked for his first ODI after playing two T20 matches for the West Indies. Fast bowlers Jediah Blades and Shamar Joseph, who were in the ODI squad, will go back to the Caribbean. Jason Holder is set to join the team on October 21 and is expected to play in the T20 matches.
