Afghanistan Strengthens Squad with Atal and Noor for Bangladesh ODIs
Afghanistan has announced two key additions to their squad ahead of the ODI series against Bangladesh, scheduled from November 6 to 11 in Sharjah. Opening batsman Sediqullah Atal and left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad have been included in the 19-man lineup. This comes after Afghanistan's historic series victory against South Africa last month.
Atal, who has six T20I caps, has showcased his talent at the Emerging Teams Asia Cup T20, scoring impressive innings of 52, 95 not out, and 83. Noor Ahmad, returning from a standout performance in the Caribbean Premier League, was named Player of the Series for claiming 22 wickets with the St Lucia Kings.
Ahmad Shah Sulimankhil, chief selector of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, provided updates on injured players, stating, "Ibrahim Zadran is still recovering from his recent ankle surgery, while Mujeeb Ur Rahman is unavailable due to treatment for a hand injury."
Sulimankhil expressed enthusiasm for the new additions, saying, "Noor Ahmad's return is a significant boost, and we have high hopes for Sediqullah Atal, who has consistently impressed with his performances."
The upcoming series against Bangladesh is crucial for Afghanistan as they prepare for the Champions Trophy in February 2025. Their recent success against South Africa marks a significant milestone, being their first series win against a top-five ranked team.
