Eighteen-Team Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Set to Kick Off on October 26
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled the final schedule for the 2024-25 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which is set to commence on October 26 and culminate with the final on December 19.
In a significant shift from previous years, this season will feature 18 teams representing 16 regions, including two teams each from Lahore and Karachi. This expansion marks a departure from last year's eight-team format and the six teams that participated over the past four years. Karachi Whites will aim to defend their title as the reigning champions.
Abdullah Niazi, the director of domestic operations, emphasized the importance of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in fostering cricketing talent. "The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy stands as the pinnacle of domestic cricket in Pakistan, showcasing the vast talent across the nation and preparing players for international challenges," he stated. "We are dedicated to providing an excellent platform for players to demonstrate their skills alongside the best in domestic cricket."
Just days prior, the tournament's future seemed uncertain due to delays. However, following a successful Champions One-Day Cup, the PCB remains committed to strengthening its domestic structure, with the successful execution of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy being a core aspect of this mission.
