Trevin Bastiampillai

Trevin Bastiampillai is a young Canadian cricket player, who was born in Sri Lanka, who has also represented Canada at the Under-19 level and so did his brother Gavin Bastiampillai. Both of them played the 2004 Under-19 World Cup. A year later, he hit a scintillating 110 against Bermuda in the ICC Americas Under-19s Tournament.

He was finally noticed in 2006 and former national coach Andy Pick believed that Trevin had a lot of potential. He made his ODI debut in July 2007 against Netherlands. He, however, struggled with his form in 2008 and battled a host of fitness issues. He remained an on and off part of the cricket team since then. He flourished for a bit in 2010 and also went on to makes his T20I debut in that year. But in the 2 T20I games that he played, he was not able to contribute anything.

Bastiampillai was recalled in the ODI team after four long years and played a couple of games in the World Cup Qualifiers in January 2014.
