Yash Dayal Banned from UP T20 League by UPCA Amid Sexual Assault Charges
Left-arm fast bowler Yash Dayal has been banned from playing in the UP T20 League by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) following serious sexual harassment accusations. He is facing rape charges in Ghaziabad and Jaipur.
In the Ghaziabad case, Dayal is accused of sexual exploitation under the guise of marriage, but he has received protection from arrest from the Allahabad High Court. In contrast, the Jaipur High Court has denied him relief from arrest given the serious nature of the case involves a minor. The next hearing is set for August 22 and Dayal faces the possibility of arrest.
Yash Dayal was set to play for Gorakhpur Lions in the 2025 UP T20 League after being bought for Rs 7 lakh by the franchise. The 27-year-old has been in great form for the past two years and played a key role in helping Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) win their first-ever IPL title in 2025 taking 13 wickets during their successful campaign.
Rising Star Faces Serious Charges
Regarding the Jaipur case, station officer Anil Jaiman told PTI, “FIR was registered against Yash Dayal for rape under relevant sections of POCSO [Protection of Children from Sexual Offences] Act and the BNS [Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita].”
Dayal future is now at risk after facing two recent accusations of sexual assault, with the latest complaint filed at the Sanganer Sadar police station in Jaipur. This case involves a minor girl who said the cricketer raped her several times over two years, using emotional pressure and false promises of helping her cricket career.
The girl said she first met Dayal when she was 17, at an IPL match in Jaipur. He allegedly called her to a hotel in Sitapura, saying he would give her career advice, but that’s where the first assault happened.
