This season, the WPL will be spread across two venues: Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai and BCA Stadium in Vadodara. The season-opener on January 9, 2026, will see RCB go up against defending champions MI in Navi Mumbai. The first leg will comprise 11 matches between January 9 and 17. After the games in Navi Mumbai are out of the way, the tournament will shift to Vadodara, where the remaining 11 fixtures, including the playoffs, will be held at the BCA Stadium.

The UP Warriorz women's cricket team is led by captain Deepti Sharma, with a squad that includes experienced Indian players like Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Kiran Navgire, alongside international stars such as Sophie Ecclestone (England), Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka), and Tahlia McGrath (Australia).

Along with RCB and MI, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, and Gujarat Giants are the other teams participating in the league. Last month's player auction in New Delhi was an action-packed.

Altogether, 277 players-194 from India and 83 overseas-fought for 73 coveted slots, with some, quite literally, breathing down each other's necks as far as furious bidding was concerned in the auction. India allrounder Deepti Sharma became the tournament's most expensive buy, joining UP Warriorz for Rs 3.2 crore. Meanwhile, Australian start Alyssa Healy remained unsold to leave fans and experts alike stunned.
