WPL 2025 Playoff Qualification Scenarios: What MI, GG, RCB & UPW Must Do
After a thrilling stint in Bengaluru, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) matches are now scheduled to take place in Lucknow. Having accumulated five wins from seven games, Delhi Capitals are already qualified for the play-offs. The next four round-robin games will be played in Lucknow at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, while the last two will be played in Mumbai at the Brabourne Stadium.
The team that tops the table directly qualifies for the final, while the teams that come second and third in the league will play in an Eliminator match to decide which team will secure the last spot in the final.

WPL 2025 Playoff Qualification Scenarios for All Teams
Qualification scenario for Mumbai Indians
The first-ever WPL champions, Mumbai Indians, are third in the points table with six points from five matches and a net run rate of +0.166. They are in the best position to make it to the playoffs. Winning two matches would take them to 10 points and secure their place in the WPL 2025 playoffs. If MI win all three remaining matches, they will qualify directly for the final ahead of Delhi Capitals.
Mumbai Indians can also reach the playoffs with eight points. For that, they need to stay ahead of RCB and either GG or UPW based on net run rate. MI have an advantage since they play the last two matches of the league stage against GG and RCB, allowing them to know exactly what is required to qualify.
Qualification scenario for RCB
RCB are presently at fourth place on the WPL 2025 table with four points from a net run rate of -0.244. The champions started the league on a high, winning their first two matches against GG and DC. Since then, however, they have lost four games in a row, including a Super Over defeat to UPW. Astonishingly, all of their losses have been at home at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
To remain in the WPL 2025 playoff race, RCB need to beat their remaining two league games. With eight points, their spot is not secure, as there are three teams that can equally get to this number. Where teams are even on points, net run rate (NRR) will then determine the result, and as it stands now, RCB have a low NRR of -0.244. If they win a single one of their remaining matches, the team will total six points, which will not suffice in case two of UPW, MI, or GG attain eight points.
Qualification scenario for UP Warriorz
UP Warriorz are at the bottom of the WPL 2025 points table, with four points from six matches. After losing to GG in their last game, they must win both of their remaining matches to reach eight points and keep their playoff hopes alive.
UPW's final league matches are against MI and RCB. However, even if they win both, their spot in the top three isn’t guaranteed. If multiple teams end up with eight points, net run rate will be the deciding factor, and UP Warriorz have a very poor NRR of -0.786, making their qualification even tougher.
Qualification scenario for Gujarat Giants
GG have climbed to second place in the WPL 2025 points table after their dominant win over UPW in Lucknow. If they win their last two matches against Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, they will finish with 10 points, securing a confirmed spot in the WPL 2025 playoffs.
Gujarat Giants can also qualify for the playoffs with just one win in their remaining two games. According to Cricbuzz, they need to defeat MI and then rely on UP Warriorz losing at least one of their matches against either Mumbai Indians or Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
