
WPL 2025: Chinelle Henry of the West Indies replaces Alyssa Healy in the UP Warriorz squad
The Australian player Alyssa Healy captain of the UP Warriorz (UPW) in the WPL 2025 has been ruled out because of a stress injury in her right foot. UPW replaced Chinelle Henry West Indies all-rounder. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the champions of WPL 2024, picked Heather Graham and Kim Garth because Sophie Devine is taking a break from the game, and Kate Cross has been suffering with a back injury. Chinelle, Heather, and Kim were picked for 30 lakh for each player in the auction.
Healy did not play in the T20 games when Australia's team beat England 16-0 in the Ashes series and passed a late fitness test to play the series-ending Test match as a middle-order batter. Healy performed well and scored 34 runs without any injury. But also, Healy said, she will not play in the WPL 2025 and the three T20I against New Zealand that starts after the two days of WPL ends on March 15.
Henry is 29 years old and is proficient at batting and fast at bowling. Henry is from the West Indies and is playing in the WPL for the first time. But comes into the tournament with form behind her. She scored 43 runs in 16 balls in the last T20I on the West Indies tour of India last year and followed it up with 61 runs in 72 balls in the third ODI of the same series. Henry played in 62 T20I games and scored 473 runs with a strike rate of 91.13. Also, she took 22 wickets in 44 innings.
Kim Garth is a star all-rounder for Australia. Garth is 28 years old and last season played for the Gujarat Giants in the WPL 2024. Garth played well in the Ashes series, three ODIs, two T20Is, and one Test match taking nine wickets in the overall series. Garth's played in 59 matches scored 764 runs and took 49 wickets.
Graham is 28 years old, and has been a part of the WPL in the last season, with Mumbai Indians (MI), but hasn't played a game in the tournament. She played well in Australia for team Hobart Hurricanes in the WBBL. But she hasn't played a lot for the country yet. Graham debuted in 2019 and played one ODI and five T20I games. In the five T20I games, she took eight wickets.
The third edition of the WPL will kick off on February 14 with a match between RCB and GG in Vadodara.
