Who Is Delano Potgieter? MI Cape Town's Star Who Joins Bumrah's Elite Club with a Fifer in SA20 On January 9, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape winners of the previous SA20 season, faced MI Cape Town to kick off the third season at St. George's Park in Port Elizabeth. However, it was a disappointing day for Sunrisers Eastern Cape supporters, as their team faced a massive 97-run defeat in the first match against MI Cape Town.

Delano Potgieter was the star of the show, getting five wickets in just three overs. MI Cape Town scored 174 runs in their first innings. The home team tried to chase that but only got 77 runs. This match was the first time MI Cape Town beat the team led by Aiden Markram in SA20, making it a historic win.

Who Is Delano Potgieter?

Delano Potgieter grew up in Port Elizabeth and was born there in 1996. Now he's 28 years old and plays as a right-arm seamer in South Africa's domestic cricket competitions. Potgieter first caught everyone's attention when he played for Gauteng against the Northerns. Delano Potgieter showcased his skills with both bat and ball. Potgieter became very well-known in the 2018 Africa T20 Cup by scoring the highest number of runs 217 in just six games. Also in the 2018-19 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge, he was the top bowler for Gauteng, taking 17 wickets in nine matches.

In the first match of SA20, Delano did a very good job with his bowling and hitting a quick 25 runs from just 12 balls. The amazing thing is that he did it with Virat Kohli's bat. First, the Indian superstar gave that bat to Rashid Khan, and then Rashid handed it over to Potgieter.

Delano really hopes that after his outstanding performance in the first match against the SEC, he'll finally catch the selectors' attention for bigger matches and be noticed in the ongoing SA20 tournament. Despite his brilliance in domestic cricket, he hasn't yet managed to secure a spot on South Africa's national T20 team.

With his brilliant performance, he joined the elite list with a Fifer in SA20
