Virat Kohli Injury Update: Will He Go to Cuttack for 2nd ODI against England or NCA?
The exciting ODI series between India and England was started on February 6 in Nagpur. The Indian team outplayed England in the first ODI. The star batter Virat Kohli's sore right knee just before the first ODI in Nagpur on Thursday raised concerns for Team India, especially with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 set to begin later this month in Pakistan and Dubai.
It seemed like he would play as usual, but captain Rohit Sharma made a surprising announcement at the toss that Kohli would miss the first ODI due to a knee injury. This opened the door for Yashasvi Jaiswal to make his debut for India in ODI.
Even though the injury didn’t seem serious, the star batter Shubman Gill gave an important update on Kohli’s availability for the second ODI against England at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday, February 9.

"When he woke up in the morning, his knee was swollen. He was fine during yesterday’s practice. There’s nothing to worry about. He will definitely be fit for the next match," Gill said.
According to a Times of India report, the team decided to rest Kohli on Wednesday evening. "His knee was fine during practice, but after we returned to the hotel, it swelled up," a source said. "It doesn’t look too serious. He should be ready for the Cuttack ODI."
Interestingly, Kohli hasn’t gone for scans yet, and it remains to be seen if he will head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru or travel directly to Cuttack with the team.
When did Kohli last miss a match due to injury?
Kohli last missed a game due to injury in 2022 during a Test match against South Africa because of a back spasm. Before that, he sat out a warm-up match against Select County XI in 2021 due to a stiff back. In 2017, he missed the fourth Test against Australia after injuring his shoulder while diving to stop a boundary in Ranchi.
