Suryakumar Yadav Struggles in Ranji Trophy Return Against Haryana

Suryakumar Yadav Struggles in Ranji Trophy Return Against HaryanaThe Ranji Trophy has reached the quarter-final stage in India's premier domestic cricket tournament. The top eight teams compete to secure a spot in the semi-finals. These matches play a key role in shaping the road to the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 title.

The Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav had a disappointing Ranji Trophy comeback against Haryana in Kolkata on February 8. Surya managed to score only nine runs in the most important match against Haryana. He played his last Ranji match in October 2024 against Maharashtra in Mumbai, where he managed to score only seven runs in his single innings.

Suryakumar Yadav’s Ranji Trophy Comeback Ends in Low Score

In the ongoing quarter-final, Surya was bowled by the Haryana pacer Sumit Kumar after facing just five balls. With his dismissal, the Mumbai team was in deep trouble. The captain of the Mumbai team Ajinkya Rahane and the all-rounder Shams Mulani are trying to steady the innings.

Surya made his Test debut against Australia on February 2023, since then he played only five first-class matches, three in the Duleep Trophy in 2023 and two in the Ranji Trophy. He was dismissed for just eight runs in his only Test innings and has struggled in first-class cricket since, with scores of 7, 52, 8, 4, 5, 16, 7, and 9.

Surya's form in international cricket was also not well. In the recent five-match T20I series against England, Surya scored only 28 runs in his five innings, which included 2 ducks.
