Suryakumar Yadav Eyes Test Return Amidst Domestic Cricket Pursuits

India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav remains hopeful of adding more Test appearances to his record. Despite having played his only Test against Australia in early 2023, and gaining significant recognition in T20I cricket, he is determined to make a Test comeback by actively participating in domestic cricket.

The 34-year-old cricketer recently played for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy and appeared for India B in the Duleep Trophy, although he hasn't found notable success yet. "When the time is right, my Test comeback will happen," Suryakumar expressed ahead of India's first T20I against South Africa in Durban. "I'm committed to playing all domestic tournaments, regardless of the format. I don't skip any games. If a Test return is meant to be, it will happen."

Suryakumar also voiced his support for Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma, who faced criticism following India's historic 3-0 Test series defeat at home to New Zealand. "Winning and losing are part of sports. Everyone puts in the effort to win," he stated. "For me, maintaining balance is crucial in life. Whether Rohit is performing well or not, his character remains unchanged. This quality is essential for any sportsman."

Suryakumar's journey as the full-time T20I captain began after Rohit retired from the format following India's T20 World Cup victory in June.
