Sunrisers Hyderabad Hold Nerve to Defeat Chennai Super Kings by 10 Runs

[ Poll: 8LD80vLk ]

It was an exciting match in Hyderabad. Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers stayed calm and did a great job under pressure. They defended their total and won the match by 10 runs against Chennai Super Kings. Earlier in the day, CSK won the toss and opted to chase. The destructive opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma gave the Orange Army a flying start, putting the CSK bowlers under early pressure. Mukesh Choudhary struck a crucial double blow in the 6th over, removing Head for 23 and then dismissing Ishan Kishan for a golden duck. Sunrisers Hyderabad raced to 75/2 at the end of the powerplay.

Abhishek Sharma continued his aggressive approach and played a blistering knock before falling for 59 off just 22 balls. Heinrich Klaasen then anchored the innings with a solid 59 off 39 balls, striking 6 fours and 2 sixes. Useful cameos from Nitish Kumar Reddy (12), Salil Arora (13) and Shivang Kumar (12) pushed SRH to a competitive 194/9 in 20 overs. Jamie Overton (3/37) and Anshul Kamboj (3/22) picked up three wickets each for CSK.

SRH Beat CSK by 10 Runs After Strong Batting and Calm Bowling Performance

In reply, CSK had an early setback as Sanju Samson fell cheaply. Ayush Mhatre, coming in as the impact player, looked in great touch and attacked from the outset, finding boundaries regularly in the powerplay. However, he suffered a hamstring issue in the 5th over and soon after threw his wicket away for 30 which changed the momentum of the game. Ruturaj Gaikwad also departed for 19, leaving CSK in trouble.

Matthew Short started well but couldn’t quite find his rhythm, while Sarfaraz Khan tried to accelerate but fell for 25 off 19 balls. Short was dismissed for 34 off 30 balls as SRH tightened their grip on the game. With 46 needed off the last 4 overs, the responsibility was on Shivam Dube and Jamie Overton to take CSK home.

It was excellent captaincy from Ishan Kishan, who marshalled his bowlers brilliantly under pressure. Sunrisers Hyderabad held their nerve and defended the total superbly, sealing a 10-run victory. Eshan Malinga (3/29) was the standout performer with the ball and it marks SRH’s third win of the season.
