Steve Smith knocks a century in the Big Bash League, leveling the record

Steve Smith scored his fourth T20 century during the Big Bash League match between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday.

Smith scored hundred in only 58 balls is a fastest century and now he has the same number of centuries in the Bash League as Ben McDermott. This was Smith's third hundred and he scored after playing 32 innings. McDermott also scored three hundreds but he played 100 games to do it. They both have the most centuries in BBL now.

Smith scored an amazing 121 not out off just 64 balls, striking the ball powerfully for 10 boundaries and seven sixes. With this century the Sixers scored a very big target of 222 for 3 in their 20 overs.

Smith played his first game in the BBL season. Before that, he was playing with Australia win against India 3-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy a short time ago. Last year, he played in the BBL, but got dismissed without scoring any runs.

Smith will be there to join in the game for the Sixers in their next two games on January 15 and 17. But, starting January 21, he must miss the game because he has to play with the national team. After all that, starting January 29, he's leading Australia as captain on a tour for two Test matches in Sri Lanka.

In 2016, while playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Rising Pune Supergiants, this 35 year old man scored his first 100 runs in a T20 match. He did it against Gujarat Lions, scoring 101 off just 54 balls. But after that season, Smith didn't get a chance to play in the IPL again his last game was in 2021. When the IPL auction happened in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last year nobody choose him.
