Sourav Ganguly Set to Enter Race for Cricket Association of Bengal Presidency
Sourav Ganguly, former Indian cricket captain and ex-BCCI President, is set to return to cricket administration as the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). He told India Today that he will be submitting his nomination for the role before the CAB Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 20, 2025.His return comes after his elder brother, Snehasish Ganguly became ineligible to continue as CAB President due to the tenure restrictions under the Lodha reforms. With no major challengers in sight, Sourav is expected to be elected unopposed.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has started preparing for the elections holding an emergency apex council meeting earlier this week. The final meeting is set for August 14, after which nominations will be processed for the AGM. Sourav Ganguly’s return to the CAB would be a full-circle moment in his career. He first joined the CAB as Secretary in 2015, became President after Jagmohan Dalmiya’s passing and held the role until 2019 before moving on to become BCCI President.
