Smriti Mandhana Hits Fastest ODI Hundred by an Indian, Breaks Kohli’s Record

Smriti Mandhana set Delhi on fire with a breathtaking knock in the third ODI against Australia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Chasing a massive 413, Mandhana wasted no time and went after the bowlers from the very first over. She showed no mercy to anyone, and off-spinner Ash Gardner felt it the most when Mandhana greeted her with a four and a six in the same over.
Even though Pratika Rawal and Harleen Deol fell early, Mandhana kept India alive in the chase with a blazing 121-run stand with Harmanpreet Kaur in just 69 balls. The two kept the scoring rate well above 10 runs an over. Mandhana reached her half-century in only 23 balls, the fastest by an Indian woman in ODIs.
She didn’t slow down after that. In just 27 more deliveries, she moved from fifty to a century, bringing up her hundred in only 50 balls. This made her the fastest Indian to score an ODI century, breaking Virat Kohli’s 52-ball record set in 2013 against Australia in Jaipur.
Her brilliant knock ended in an unexpected way when Grace Harris dismissed her with a high full toss. But before walking back, Mandhana had already created history, her century was the second-fastest in women’s ODI history, just behind Meg Lanning’s 45-ball hundred against New Zealand in 2012/13.
