Shreyas Iyer in ICU After Spleen Injury During Sydney ODI Against Austr

In a shocking turn of events for Indian cricket fans, ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer has been admitted to the ICU of a hospital in Sydney after suffering a serious injury during the third ODI against Australia. Reports say Iyer has been in intensive care for the last two days, with doctors closely watching his recovery from a severe internal injury.
The incident took place when Shreyas Iyer took a stunning running catch to dismiss Alex Carey. But while completing the catch, he landed badly on his left side and felt sharp pain near his ribs. After going back to the dressing room, his condition started to get worse. The team’s medical staff immediately rushed him to the hospital, where doctors found that his vital signs were very low and he was suffering from internal bleeding, making his condition serious.
A source told PTI that after medical scans, doctors found internal bleeding near his ribs. As a result, he was immediately admitted to the ICU for close observation.
“He will stay under watch for anywhere between two to seven days, depending on how quickly the bleeding stops and if there’s any risk of infection,” the source added.
