Shreyanka Patil Likely Out of WPL 2025, Sneh Rana Could Step In for RCB: Sources

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 began with an exciting high-scoring match at the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium. Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced Gujarat Giants in the season opener.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are already dealing with a blow early in the third season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). According to the sources, from CricketNext the star spinner Shreyanka Patil may miss the entire season due to a recent injury.
RCB may take unsold all-rounder Sneh Rana to replace her if they decide to add a new player. Rana, who went unsold in last year’s WPL auction after being released by Gujarat Giants (GG), has been seen with the RCB squad ahead of their season opener against GG on Friday.

Leading up to the tournament, Patil featured in many of RCB’s social media posts. However, she shared a post earlier today hinting that something might be wrong. Patil had a stellar 2024 WPL season, winning the Purple Cap and taking four wickets in the final against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Shreyanka posted her picture and wrote on X (Twitter), “Heartbroken, but I will fly again."

Patil had already been dealing with a similar injury before this WPL season, adding to RCB’s growing concerns. The team is also missing Asha Sobhana due to a knee injury, Sophie Devine who is on a break, left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux who is injured, and medium-fast bowler Kate Cross, who withdrew to focus on injury recovery.
During the season opener between RCB and GG in Vadodara, Patil’s absence was felt. The hosts put up an impressive 201/5 in the first innings after being asked to bat. But RCB chased the target in just 18.3 overs. With this victory, RCB became the first team to chase down 200+.
