Shakib Al Hasan Cleared of Suspect Bowling Action After Months of Scrutiny
Bangladesh veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has passed the suspect bowling action review after struggling for a long time. The 37-year-old ace last played in the two-Test series against India in October at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Following that Test, he declared his retirement from T20Is and Tests.
The seasoned star was expected to represent Bangladesh in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but he was left out as the selectors preferred not to pick him solely as a specialist batter. The bowling action suspension meant he couldn't participate in the ICC event, which he had planned as his farewell tournament in international cricket.
"The news is correct (passing the bowling test), and I am cleared to bowl again," Shakib said, as per Cricbuzz.
Bangladesh's Winless ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Campaign
Shakib made his international debut on August 6, 2006, against Zimbabwe in an ODI encounter. The star all-rounder was part of the Bangladesh squad that reached the Super 8s of the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies, defeating India and South Africa. The seasoned cricketer has amassed nearly 15,000 runs and claimed over 700 wickets across international formats. Shakib was also featured in the Indian Premier League playing 71 matches, scoring 793 runs and taking 63 wickets.
Bangladesh exited the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 without securing a single victory, losing their opening clash against India, followed by a defeat to New Zealand in their second league game. Their third group-stage match against hosts Pakistan was washed out due to rain. Bangladesh's next assignment is an upcoming two-Test series against Zimbabwe.
