Bangladesh Cricket Board Takes Control of Chattogram Royals for Rest of BPL Season
The Chattogram Royals owners have handed over control of the franchise a day before the start of the Bangladesh Premier League. This was because they failed to clear wages due on players, making BCB intervene and take a temporary charge of the team.
The owner of the franchise, Abdul Kaiyum, sent a letter to the BPL Governing Council informing it of his decision not to be able to secure sponsors and paying salaries to players.
Under BPL regulations, the board is now responsible for the franchise for the next season
"We have received a letter," BPL Governing Council member secretary Iftekhar Rahman told the media, "We are now discussing the issue with the players and reviewing the way to go about it. As per rules, the board is supposed to take responsibility."

BCB Director and chairman of the Board's Media and Communication Department, Amzad Hussain, confirmed the takeover to UNB for next season.
"They are unable to continue as the owner of the team," Amzad said. "They were also unable to make the necessary payments, so the BCB is taking over the team. Since there is no time to appoint a new owner, this was the only option.
The BCB had awarded Chattogram Royals to Triangular Services, but the franchise had been shrouded in uncertainty since the start. As per the BPL rules, it is mandatory for the franchises to pay at least 25 per cent of player contracts before the tournament starts. That hasn't happened, say officials.
