SA vs AUS: South Africa’s Playing XI for Champions Trophy 2025 Match Against Australia

South Africa Playing XI for ICC Champions Trophy 2025: The craze for the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy has returned after 8 years, featuring the top 8 teams. Teams are divided into two groups. The matches will be played in Pakistan and UAE. South Africa is in Group B along with Afghanistan, Australia, and England.

South Africa dominated Afghanistan, winning by 107 runs in the third match. Followed by the fourth match Australia sealed a record-breaking five-wicket win over England, chasing 352. Both teams won one match each in this tournament.

South Africa is led by the star batter Temba Bavuma and Australia is led by Steve Smith in the seventh ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match. The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is expected to be a competitive event, and South Africa will want to make a big impact. They’ve put together a solid squad with experienced players and young talent. Here’s our predicted playing XI for South Africa based on recent form and team balance.

South Africa’s Predicted Playing XI

Tony de Zorzi & Ryan Rickelton (Openers)

The young and rising star Tony de Zorzi has scored 482 runs in just 14 ODI matches with an average of 37, including a century and a fifty. His aggressive stroke play and ability to take advantage of the powerplay make him a promising opener. Ryan Rickelton played a crucial knock against Afghanistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, scoring a quickfire 103 off 106 balls, providing South Africa with a strong start in their 107-run victory. He played only seven ODIs and scored 291 runs with an amazing average of 41, including one century and one fifty.

Temba Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen(Top Order)

The star South African skipper Temba Bavuma scored 56 runs against Afghanistan in their first match in this tournament. He has played 47 ODIs and scored 1791 runs with an impressive average of 43. Temba Bavuma has vast experience leading the team on slow wickets. He is known for his consistency and strike rotation, making him a key player at the top of the order.

Rassie van der Dussen is a reliable No. 4 batter with 2516 runs in 69 ODIs with an amazing average of 48. He has 15 fifties and six centuries in ODIs. He played a quick-fire knock against Afghanistan. He has the ability to play long innings and easily handle the pressure situations.

Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, (Middle Order)

The 30-year-old star batter Aiden Markram has an impressive knock of 52 off 36 balls with an excellent strike rate of 144 against Afghanistan. He played 75 ODIs for South Africa and scored 2340 runs. His part-time off-spin and ability to handle spin make him an asset, especially in subcontinent conditions.

Heinrich Klaasen, the 33-year-old most destructive wicketkeeper batter has not played the first match, but he may be back to playing 11 for this important match against Australia. He has been in excellent form in recent years. He scored 1987 runs in just 57 ODIs with an amazing average of 43, including four centuries and nine fifties. His ability to accelerate the innings and his sharp wicketkeeping skills strengthen his position as the team’s wicketkeeper.

David Miller & Marco Jansen(All-rounders)

The aggressive left-handed middle-order batsman David Miller is South Africa's premier finisher. He is a game-changer in the death overs, he played 175 ODIs and scored 4490 runs with an impressive average of 41. He has six centuries and 24 half-centuries in ODIs. In the first match, he managed to score only 18 runs and did not make an impact with his batting.

The 24-year-old young and talented all-rounder Marco Jansen will be the key for the South Africa team. He provides balance to the team with both batting and bowling skills, he played 27 ODIs, scored 461 runs, and took 42 wickets. His left-arm pace and aggressive lower-order batting add batting depth to the squad. He recorded a duck in the first match against Afghanistan.

Keshav Maharaj, Wiaan Mulder & Kagiso Rabada (Bowlers)

The vice-captain of the South Africa team Keshav Maharaj has played 46 ODIs and taken 56 wickets. His ability to break partnerships in the middle overs on spin-friendly pitches makes him a strong candidate for spin bowling.

The 27-year-old seam-bowling all-rounder Wiaan Mulder has played 23 ODIs and taken 18 wickets. He can also contribute with his bat to score runs in the lower order. The right-arm fast bowler Kagiso Rabada is the main bowler in the South African pace bowling attack. With his pace attack, he took 165 wickets in just 104 ODIs. He can strike early at crucial moments with his amazing bouncers and variations on flat tracks. He took three wickets against Afghanistan in the first match.

South Africa’s Predicted Playing XI:

Ryan Rickelton, Tony de Zorzi, Temba Bavuma (c), Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Marco Jansen, Wiaan Mulder, Keshav Maharaj (vc), Kagiso Rabada.
