ICC Announces Massive Prize Money for WTC Final: How Much Did South Africa, Australia and India Earn?
With just under a month left until the one-off Test at Lord’s between South Africa and Australia, the ICC has announced a huge prize pool for the 2023–25 ICC World Test Championship Final. The total prize money for this edition stands at USD $5.76 million — more than twice the amount offered in the last two finals.
The winners of the final will take home USD $3.6 million — a big leap from the USD $1.6 million awarded in both 2021 and 2023. The runners-up won’t go empty-handed either, earning USD $2.16 million, up from the previous USD $800,000. To kick off the 30-day countdown to the Ultimate Test, the ICC dropped a hype video featuring South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma, pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada, and star batter Aiden Markram, alongside Australia’s Steve Smith and the explosive Travis Head.
The promo also includes legendary voices and faces from the game Shaun Pollock, Dale Steyn, Matthew Hayden, Mel Jones, Nasser Hussain, Shoaib Akhtar and Ravi Shastri — all building the buzz for what promises to be a blockbuster clash.
South Africa had a strong and steady run in the WTC25 cycle, finishing at the top of the table and becoming the first team to reach the final. They won Test series against Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, and drew a home series against a tough Indian team.
Australia also played really well and secured their spot in the final with a 3-1 series win over India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year. That big win helped them finish in the top two.
India, even though they finished third, will still get a good reward. As the third-placed team and after reaching the final twice before, they will earn USD $1.44 million, which is about ₹12.31 crore.
