Rohit’s "a very low point in his career" continue?

Rohit’s "a very low point in his career" continue?
One more bad match for Rohit Sharma, and his lousy form continues. The Indian captain, who recently won the ICC T20 World Cup, is now struggling with his test form.

Since September, Rohit has only scored one fifty in his 12 innings, with an average of 12.36. In his last twelve innings, he scored 6,5,23,8,2,52,0,8,18,11,3 and 6 in the second innings of the pink ball test.

No runs this Season

With an average of 11.86, It's the second-worst of any captain in this season. While his performance with the bat wasn't on the lines of the expectation, his captaincy has also not given the results in the last four matches. During the India vs New Zealand test match, India lost the series by 0-3, making it the worst performance of the decade inside the country.

In the second test of the Border Gavaskar trophy, a pink ball test, Rohit Sharma returned to lead the team after his paternal leave.

During the match, after scoring a total of 180 runs in the first innings and just 175 runs in the second innings, India only got a lead of 18 runs after its second innings. With Bad performances from almost all batters resulted in setting an easy target of 19 runs for the Australians. The recent debutant Nitish Reddy was the highest scorer with 42 in both innings.

After the 0-3 shameful loss against New Zealand earlier, Rohit described that as "a very low point" in his career. But now, with more losses, the struggle show continues,

The Adelaide Struggle Continues

Rohit’s "a very low point in his career" continue?

After returning from paternal leave, Rohit came to bat at no. 6 as KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the innings. Fans expected him to make runs at a new batting position in Adelaide. Still, he struggled again with the bat, scoring just three runs in the first innings and 6 in the second. The last time India batted at Adelaide was a pink ball test match, too, and in that innings, India got all out for 36 runs.

While is a limited-overs cricket specialist, Rohit has had ups and downs in his test cricket. After 2019, when he started batting as an opener, he batted well, but his recent performance again raised concerns. In 2024, his test average has gone below 20 with a string of low scores.

Rohit's class and legacy suggest this phase will pass, and he will return with his test form. However, his age is not on his side. He is 36 years old now, so he must score runs again soon.

His low scores are due to something other than bad form; they might involve some technicalities. He might need to change his batting style. He plays with a hard hand, but test cricket sometimes demands a soft hand and patience.

As a captain, he has various responsibilities other than just batting, and he needs to pay attention to different aspects of the game other than batting. If his form woes continue, the team will have a headache. They might need to evaluate their future strategies.
