Rohit Sharma Sticks to Aggressive Approach Following Test Loss to New Zealand

Despite India's eight-wicket defeat to New Zealand in the first Test at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, skipper Rohit Sharma remains optimistic. He reaffirmed the team's commitment to their aggressive style of play, asserting that one loss will not deter their strategy.

India faced a daunting challenge after being bowled out for just 46 in their first innings. However, they made a strong comeback in the second innings, with Sarfaraz Khan scoring his maiden Test century (150) and significant contributions from Rishabh Pant (99), Virat Kohli (70), and Rohit himself (52), leading the team to a total of 462 runs.

Despite setting a target of 107 runs, the Kiwis chased it down comfortably, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. In the post-match press conference, Rohit emphasized, "We don't change our mindset based on one game or one series. Fear of losing a Test match will not alter our approach."

The Indian captain highlighted the importance of maintaining composure under pressure, stating, "It's crucial not to let the opposition sense that we are struggling. When behind, we must strive to play fearlessly." He pointed to recent performances, including a remarkable seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in Kanpur, as evidence of the team's resilient mindset.

Rohit concluded by reaffirming their commitment to fearless cricket, stating, "It's one thing to talk about it, but we went out there and showcased our intent."
