Rohit Sharma Joins Mumbai Ranji Practice After Disastrous Australia Series

Rohit Sharma Joins Mumbai Ranji Practice After Disastrous Australia SeriesRohit Sharma, the captain of India, had a tough time with his batting during the series against Australia, only scoring 31 runs in three Tests. Sharma really wanted to improve. Sharma went to the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday for his first session of red ball practice with the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team since battling.

At 37, Rohit showed he was eager to bounce back. In the session, he was practicing for more than 60 minutes doing match simulation exercises, and he was batting with Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of Mumbai's Ranji Trophy team. Rahane is playing well now. People watching mentioned how Rohit was concentrated on finding his rhythm again.

Rohit's composed and strategic batting

Shardul Thakur bowled a new ball that swing and knocked off Rohit's stump early on. It happened quickly, just a few balls after he started batting at 9:30 in the morning. The pitch was still a bit wet from the morning dew when he stopped.

Rohit didn't let the rough start stop him and focused very hard on the game. He was sharp and informed about when to be calm and when to try his best, handling different bowlers like a pro whether they bowl fast with their right or left hand, or even if they were spinning the ball. The most impressive moment was when he successfully hit the ball in an unexpected direction against a left-arm spinner and did it perfectly, sending the ball quickly all the way down to the mid-wicket boundary.

Shreyas Iyer, who's really good at Test matches, and Shivam Dube he can bat and bowl, were also part of the practice session. They were all working, including some other players from Mumbai and didn't stop until 4:30 p.m. They were apparently concentrated on getting better and ready for what comes next.

Selection on Monday

Next Monday, the senior selection committee of Mumbai, which Sanjay Patil leads, is planning to pick the players for the next Ranji Trophy game. They're going to play against Jammu & Kashmir. This match is all set to begin on January 23 at the Mumbai Cricket Association's ground in Bandra-Kurla Complex. Although Rohit Sharma has been showing up at practice sessions, it's still not sure if he'll play in the J&K match. The last time Rohit played a Ranji Trophy game for Mumbai was way back in the 2015-16 season when they were facing Uttar Pradesh.

The 2024-25 season brought back red-ball cricket, and everybody's very happy about it again. Baroda is at the top of Elite Group 'A' because they have 27 points. After that Jammu & Kashmir with 23 points. The defending champs, Mumbai, staying in third place with 22 points.

Mumbai's got a key ability against J&K coming up, and they really desire to move up in the points table. In November, when they played their last Ranji match in Delhi, they crushed Services with a nine-wicket win.
