Rohit Sharma Complains to BCCI About Sunil Gavaskar’s Negative Remarks
The BCCI has called for a review meeting after the IND vs AUS series and there has been one rumor after another, and there is a new one now. As reported by Cric Blogger, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has reportedly expressed his displeasure over Sunil Gavaskar's comments regarding his batting form.
The report indicates that Rohit has brought his issues with Gavaskar’s comments being ‘too negative’ to the BCCI. This news has only served to build the buzz surrounding the review meeting and the discussions that are taking place within Indian cricket.
“The skipper, Rohit Sharma, was out of his depth and having taken the brave decision to step aside, because of his form, he has also raised big questions about his future in Test cricket,” Gavaskar mentioned this in his column for The Sydney Morning Herald.
The criticism did not end there, with Gavaskar also claiming that Rohit Sharma would resign if he failed to score in the MCG and SCG Test, and would not have to be fired.
"Rohit felt that it was not necessary for Gavaskar to criticize him in that fashion and that’s why he complained to the BCCI about Gavaskar. All these added so much pressure that he was compelled to tell it all to BCCI,” a source said.
Sunil Gavaskar’s criticism of Rohit Sharma seems to be quite justified especially when the skipper has failed to deliver in the series, scoring only 31 runs in three Tests with an average of six. His captaincy was also criticized for several poor choices including strategic errors that resulted in India losing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after 10 years of ownership, despite winning the first Test in Perth. India will be looking to regain form in their next Test series against England in June-July this year.
