
Renegades Hold Nerve to Defeat Scorchers in Thrilling Low-Scoring
The Melbourne Renegades improved and beat the Perth Scorchers stopping their bad streak of six losses in a row. It was their first win over them since December 2020. They needed to chase down 144 and succeeded with two wickets in hand and an entire over spare. Cooper Connolly and Matthew Spoors were the only players from the Scorchers who really did anything special 66 and 29. Despite their efforts hitting more than ten runs, it still wasn't enough. The Scorchers were trying their best and finished their innings at 143/8, but it just wasn't enough to secure a win.
The Renegades started the match badly because they lost Jake Fraser McGurk right in the first over. They faced a difficult beginning with missed run outs and dropped catches but they managed to stay calm and win. Josh Brown and Tim Seifert tried to pick up the pace by obtaining fast but ended up getting out soon after. Even as wickets continued to fall at critical times, Jacob Bethell and Laurie Evans stepped up and contributed a 54-run partnership keeping the team moving forward.

Right at the beginning, something unusual was happening with the pitch and the Renegades fast bowlers knew exactly how to make it work for them. They quickly sent Keaton Jennings and Finn Allen off the field in the first few overs. Then, Josh Inglis and Ashton Turner were out pretty quick too but then Cooper Connolly stepped in with Spoors and Nick Hobson backing him up and together they made things much better. Even so, Tom Rogers wasn't done yet.Rogers joined in took a couple of wickets and wrapped up his day with the appealing stats of 3/22.
