Perth Scorchers Win a Record-Extending Sixth BBL Title as Triumph Over Sydney Sixers in BBL 2026

Perth Scorchers are the Big Bash League (BBL) champions for a record-extending sixth time. In front of a packed home crowd of over 55,000, all cheering for the Men in Orange, Josh Inglis scored a maximum straight down the ground to seal the championship for the Perth-based franchise.

Mitch Marsh’s 44 and Josh Inglis winning six helped Perth Scorchers chase 132 and win their sixth BBL title

Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc, two of the biggest names in Australian cricket, featured for the Sydney Sixers, but on the night of the final, it was the Scorchers who stuck to their plans and delivered the goods. Earlier in the day, Scorchers won the toss and opted to bowl first. They were on the money from ball one, and it turned out to be a one-sided affair in the end. The Sixers were bowled out for 132 in 20 overs.

Steve Smith, Josh Philippe and Moises Henriques top-scored with 24 runs each. Lachlan Shaw (14) and Joel Davies (19) were the other two batters who got into double figures. David Payne picked up 3 wickets for 18 runs. Jhye Richardson also got three wickets but gave away 32 runs from his four overs. Mahli Beardman got two, while Aaron Hardie picked up a wicket.

In reply, Finn Allen and Mitchell Marsh added 80 runs in 8.2 overs before the former lost his wicket. That start nearly took the game away from the Sixers. Aaron Hardie fell for a run-a-ball knock of 5. Josh Inglis then joined hands with Marsh as the duo added 33 runs.

Marsh fell for 44 off 43. Ashton Turner failed to get going but with not too much to do, Inglis smashed Ben Dwarshuis over his head for a maximum to take his side over the line. Sean Abbott picked up 2 wickets, while Jack Edwards and Mitchell Starc got one apiece but it wasn't enough.
