[ Poll: 1wVMaVZl ]

The Rajasthan Royals are a popular team in the Indian Premier League. The team is owned by a group called Royals Sports Group, but the ownership is shared by several people. Now, the team is up for sale, and many buyers are interested in buying it.

Manoj Badale’s Emerging Media Sporting Holdings Limited holds a 65 percent stake, RedBird Capital Partners owns 15 percent, and Lachlan Murdoch holds 13 percent. The remaining shares are split among individual investors.

As of last week, four groups were interested in buying the Rajasthan Royals. Current investor Kal Somani teamed up with Rob Walton and offered about $1.3 billion (around ₹11,956 crore). Meanwhile, the Aditya Birla Group, along with David Blitzer’s Bolt Ventures, is seen as the leading contender to buy the team. Capri Global and Times of India Group are the other two.

Rajasthan Royals Sale: Key Investors and Bidders in the Race

But according to City AM, Sanjay Govil is still interested in buying the Rajasthan Royals. Govil, who owns Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket and is also co-owner of Welsh Fire in The Hundred, is still in the race, despite earlier reports saying he had pulled out.

Govil had entered the franchise circuit in 2023 and purchased 49 per cent of the Cardiff-based team last year. It’s reported that RR recently turned down a $1.7 billion (INR 15,859 crore approximately) bid from private equity group Columbia Pacific Capital Partners, led by Nisha Sachdeva and Debjeet Gupta. But Govil, remains in the race.
