"New Zealand's Test Series Victory Provides Silver Lining for India"
India faces a challenging situation after losing the Test series to New Zealand, trailing 0-2 with one match remaining in Mumbai. This marks India's first home Test series defeat against the Kiwis in 12 years, breaking their streak of 18 consecutive red-ball series wins at home. The Tom Latham-led New Zealand team secured an eight-wicket victory in the opening Test in Bengaluru, followed by a 113-run win in Pune.
Despite the disappointing results, former Australian spinner Brad Hogg sees a silver lining for Rohit Sharma's squad. He believes this defeat will serve as a wake-up call, motivating the players to address their weaknesses ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in 2024.
Hogg emphasized that the loss will push the Indian team to prepare more diligently. "This setback is beneficial for India as it encourages them to reflect and improve before heading to Australia. The players will strive harder to keep their World Test Championship hopes alive," he stated. He predicts that India will approach the series against Australia with renewed energy and determination.
The five-match Test series against Australia is set to begin on November 22 in Perth.
