Pat Cummins Targets Historic Border-Gavaskar Trophy Win Against India
Australian captain Pat Cummins is eager to change his Test series record against India as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy approaches, starting with the first match in Perth on November 22. Despite leading Australia to victories in the World Test Championship, ODI World Cup, and the Ashes, Cummins aims to secure a win against India in a bilateral Test series for the first time.
"This is the one major achievement I want to accomplish," Cummins shared with AAP during his book launch. "Winning at home is critical, as Australians, including myself, expect strong performances here."
India remains the only team Australia has not defeated in their last 16 Test series, having won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in four consecutive campaigns since 2014-15, including landmark victories in Australia in 2018-19 and 2020-21.
"We've lost the last two series against them on home soil, making this a crucial contest. Our team is in excellent form, so we are confident of a strong showing."
Cummins emphasized the significance of this season against India, a team that has notably succeeded in Australia.
