"‘Judge Me for My Cricket, Not My English’ – Mohammad Rizwan Responds to Trolls Over His English Struggles
Pakistan's ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan had a candid response when questioned about his struggles with speaking English. Often trolled on social media for his pre- and post-match comments, Rizwan addressed the criticism ahead of Multan Sultans' PSL 2025 opener. When asked if the online trolling affects him, the wicketkeeper-batter said he isn’t bothered and feels no shame about not being fluent in English.
“I don’t care [about social media trolling]. I am proud of one thing and that is whatever I say, I say from my heart. I don’t know English.”
“The only regret is that I did not get enough education but I am not even one percent ashamed that I can’t speak English despite being the captain of the Pakistan cricket team,” Rizwan said in a press conference.
However, the 32-year-old does express some regret over not completing his education. He emphasized that his main focus is representing Pakistan on the field not becoming a professor of English.
“The demand from me is cricket, not English. There is a regret that I did not complete my education, which is why I struggle in speaking English. Pakistan is not demanding English from me if that is the case, I will leave cricket to become a professor but I do not have that much time,” Rizwan added.
Mohammad Rizwan said "I don't care about trollers. I am not educated; I don't know how to speak English. I am here to play cricket; I am not here to teach English. My nation demands cricket from me Alhamdullilah. I don't have time to learn English" 🇵🇰😭😭pic.twitter.com/Pdy1cs6053

After International Setbacks, Rizwan Eyes Comeback with Multan Sultans
Mohammad Rizwan has been going through a lean patch with the bat. Since his unbeaten 122 against South Africa in the tri-nation series, he’s struggled to build on starts and convert them into big scores. His captaincy has also come under scrutiny, with Pakistan making an early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, followed by a 3-0 series whitewash in England. Rizwan managed just 72 runs across three innings in the ODI series.
Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans are set to face David Warner’s Karachi Kings in their PSL 2025 opener on April 12. With both Rizwan and Babar Azam recently dropped from Pakistan’s T20I squad, the Multan skipper will be eager to make a statement and silence the critics with a strong performance.
