PSL 2026: Why was Babar Azam’s neck taped during MS vs PZ?
Babar Azam was seen with a pink Kinesio tape during Peshawar Zalmi’s game against Multan Sultans. The tape covered his neck region, which was hit by an Ubaid Shah bouncer in the previous game versus Lahore Qalandars.
Following the blow, Babar seemed to be in pain, and a physio attended to him on the field. Though the right-handed batter did not leave the ground, he looked in discomfort throughout his remaining stay. He went back after playing an anchoring innings where he scored 43 off 40 balls.
Discomfort continues against Multan
Against Multan, too, he had troubles with his neck. After dispatching a Mohammad Nawaz delivery for a six, he winced in pain as a physio came out to take a look. He only stayed for a short while afterwards, though looked in good shape in the next innings. Babar took a reverse cup catch to dismiss Arafat Minhas off Nahid Rana’s ball.
Zalmi’s position and what’s next
Currently, his side is at the top of the table with a very healthy Net Run Rate (NRR). They still have three games left to be played in the group stages, with the next game scheduled against Quetta Gladiators on April 15. Babar, who is captaining Zalmi, could take a day off against them as their dominant run has surged their playoff chances.
