PSL 11 Playoff Qualification Scenario: Which teams remain in contention? Who will get the final berth?
Karachi Kings knocked out Quetta Gladiators with a 9-wicket win. But their playoff hopes remained alive only for a few hours as Lahore squashed them with a six-wicket win over Peshawar Zalmi last night.
Qualification scenario for Hyderabad
The playoff race is now down to only two teams: Qalandars, who are currently in fourth spot, and Hyderabad Kingsmen, who play their final group-stage game against Rawalpindiz today.
For Hyderabad to qualify, not only do they need to defeat Rawalpindiz but also do so by a margin that puts them ahead of Lahore Qalandars in terms of Net Run Rate (NRR). While the exact equation can only be calculated after the first innings of the game, in case of a 200-run target, they will need to win by roughly 85 runs or chase it in around 10 overs.
Anything less and Lahore, with ten points and -0.482 NRR, will join Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, and Islamabad United in the playoff stage.
Final standings
Right now, only Zalmi’s spot in the table has been confirmed. With seventeen points after eight wins and one loss, they are set to finish the group stages at the top. For Islamabad and Multan, their final group-stage game against each other will decide who gets the second or third spot. Currently, Multan, with twelve points, are second, but Islamabad, with eleven points, are not too far off.
