Pooja Vastrakar and Asha Sobhana Ruled Out of Women’s Premier League 2025

Pooja Vastrakar and Asha Sobhana Ruled Out of Women’s Premier League 2025

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to kick off on February 14. The star Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Pooka Vastrakar and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) leg-spinner Asha Sobhana have been ruled out of the Women’s Premier League 2025.

MI head coach Charlotte Edwards confirmed Pooja’s absence. Pooja played an important role for Mumbai in the last two editions. Parunika Sisodia, who was part of India's U19 World Cup squad will replace Pooja Vastrakar this season. The 19-year-old impressed with two wickets against South Africa in the final. Parunika Sisodia was part of the Gujarat Giants before being released ahead of the 2024 season.

The star RCB leg-spinner Asha Sobhana was also ruled out for this season due to a knee injury. Sobhana’s absence is a big setback for the team, and also the star spinner Shreyanka Patil and all-rounder Ellyse Perry are not fully fit.

Sobhana played a key role for RCB in the last season. She took 12 wickets in just 10 matches with an impressive economy rate of 7.11.

The star Australian all-rounder Sophie Molineux, the New Zealand all-rounder Sophie Devine, and English cricketer Kate Cross were also ruled out for the upcoming season. The defending champions have named Charlie Dean, Heather Graham, and Kim Garth as their replacements.
