PCB approves EOI to help SACF develop stadium in Jeddah

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approved an Expression of Interest (EOI) for cooperation with the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation (SACF) to develop a stadium in Jeddah. The decision was made during PCB’s recent Board of Governors (BoG) meeting in Lahore.
“The Board approved an Expression of Interest (EOI) for cooperation with the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation for the development of a cricket stadium in Jeddah,” the PCB said.
Cooperation between PCB and SACF
The two governing bodies have been in talks about developing the Jeddah stadium as well as promoting cricket in the country for a while. In December 2024, PCB’s chair, Mohsin Naqvi, extended “all possible cooperation” to the SACF on his tour to Saudi Arabia, where he met the board’s president, Prince Saud bin Mishal Al-Saud.
The two chairmen discussed the construction and development of cricket stadiums across Middle Eastern countries.
Saudi Arabia developing cricket
Saudi Arabia’s cricket passion hit a new high after the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction was held in the country in November 2024. With a huge South Asian diaspora in Saudi Arabia, cricket’s promotion was only inevitable. SACF, which was formed in 2020, has been working to field an international team, among other projects, to take part in global tournaments.
