Pat Cummins Injury Update: Likely Return for Third Ashes Test

Pat Cummins Injury Update: Likely Return for Third Ashes Test

[ Poll: zLqovrw1 ]

Australian Test captain Pat Cummins said he will most likely return for the third Ashes Test. He missed the first two matches because of a back injury. Cummins mentioned that he now feels fit and has been bowling at full intensity during practice.

But he also explained that the main challenge after a bone injury is getting used to bowling on consecutive days. He admitted that he hasn’t bowled on back-to-back days for a while, which is important to get ready for Test cricket.

"First of all, yeah, I should be right for Adelaide. I’ll have one more bowl tomorrow [Sunday], and then we’ll go to Adelaide and have another bowl there. barring any hiccups, I’ll be good to go. Body feels great. Relatively close, really. My body feels great, I’m bowling at 100%," stated Cummins during a conversation with Fox Sports.

Pat Cummins Set to Return for Third Ashes Test After Back Injury

Pat Cummins, who last played for Australia in July, is looking to make a comeback after a long break from competitive cricket. There was talk of him playing in the current pink-ball Test, but he wasn’t able to reach the required match fitness and had to miss out.

"The big question mark when coming back from a bone injury is we tend to have a bowl and have a couple of days off, recover, bowl, bowl. I haven’t done back-to-back bowls, so one of the high-risk things going into a Test match is that you’re going to be expected to bowl two days in a row, maybe three days in a row, and potentially quite a few overs," he added.

As for the series, Australia currently leads 1-0. They won the first Test in Perth by eight wickets and, by the end of the third day in Brisbane, they are in a strong position, leading by 43 runs after taking six of England’s second-innings wickets.
