IND vs SA: India’s 9-Wicket Victory Secures ODI Series Triumph in Vizag

India put on a dominant show to win the ODI series 2-1 with a 9-wicket victory in Vizag. They were better than South Africa in batting, bowling, and fielding. After bowling South Africa out for under 280, India’s openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal took control with a strong partnership. Virat Kohli then finished the chase comfortably with an unbeaten fifty.

Earlier in the day, KL Rahul won the toss and invited South Africa to bat first. Quinton de Kock scored a century, but the lack of support from the other end hurt the Proteas. Temba Bavuma made 48, but once he departed, South Africa kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 270 in 47.5 overs. 

India Seal Series with Dominant 9-Wicket Win in Vizag

Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 for 41 from his 10 overs. Prasidh Krishna started a little expensively but fought back well to finish with figures of 4 for 66 in 9.5 overs. Arshdeep Singh and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with a wicket each. 

In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma began watchfully, but once they found their rhythm, the South African fielders were chasing leather for most of the evening. Rohit fell 25 short of a century, but Jaiswal carried on, converting his maiden ODI fifty into a memorable hundred, becoming the sixth Indian to score a century in each format of the game. 

Virat Kohli walked in at No. 3 after Rohit’s dismissal and took the baton seamlessly, continuing the assault on the Proteas attack. He reached his fifty and hit the winning runs, remaining unbeaten on 65 off just 45 balls. Keshav Maharaj was the only wicket-taker for South Africa.
