Pakistan's Imad Wasim Again Announces Retirement

Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim announced his retirement today from all formats of International cricket. In June, Immad played his last game in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Imad became the No.1 T20I bowler in 2017. He has repeatedly talked about his desire to play more international and franchise cricket worldwide. But after announcing his retirement last year and returning to play in the T20 World, he has announced his retirement again.

He announced his retirement on X.

After much thought and reflection, I have decided to retire from international cricket. Representing Pakistan on the world stage has been the greatest honour of my life, and every moment wearing the green jersey has been unforgettable.”

“Your unwavering support, love, and passion have always been my biggest strength. From the highs to the lows, your encouragement has pushed me to give my best for our beloved country.

"While this chapter comes to an end, I look forward to continuing my journey in cricket through domestic and franchise cricket, and I hope to keep entertaining you all in new ways.

Imad was a key player and all-rounder for the team. In a career since 2015, since he debuted against Zimbabwe, 1540 runs and took 117 wickets. With the champion Trophy coming in the next few months, the team will miss him for the role. Imaad was also Pakistan’s captain in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, where Pakistan lifted the trophy for the first time.

 Last year, Imad retired after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Still, after a magnificent PSL, where he contributed significantly to Islamabad United, the team won the Ninth season of PSL. After his performance in the league, Pakistan team management called him for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to give his services. After that, he joined the Pakistan tour of New Zealand for the T20 World Cup practice. His return wasn't fruitful to the team as he scored just 65 runs and took eight wickets since his return. In his final game, he took three wickets against Ireland.
