Harry Brook Surpasses Joe Root to Become No.1 Test Batter

Harry Brook just caught the top spot as the No.1 test batter in the world, pushing Joe Root, who used to be No.1 down the rankings. Root himself had said Brook was the best player in the world today, and it appears clearly he was right because of what Brook pulled off in New Zealand. With amazing scores, Brook did very well by hitting a huge 171 in the first test and then 123 and 55 in the second test. And that's how he quickly went ahead of Root to get to the top of the list.
Brook is ahead of Root by just one point. Root's classy 106 in the second innings of the same match kept him right in the race. England's dominant 323-run win in the second Test gives them a 2-0 lead in the series, but the final Test starting on December 14 in Hamilton could decide if Brook holds onto his crown or Root reclaims the top spot.
Root had been the top batter since July when he overtook Kane Williamson, now ranked third. Over his illustrious career, Root has held the No.1 spot nine times.

In Wellington, Brook was named Player of the Match, and Root had a large amount of notably positive content to say regarding him. He called him “Brooklyn” and said, “He's the best player in the world today. He's great under pressure, makes bowlers regret showing up, and uses a bat in ways that amaze everyone.”
Brook, who's only 25, has knocked out 2280 runs in just 38 innings of 23 tests. Harry Brook has hit eight centuries and even combined them together to make a big score of 317 against Pakistan in Multan last month. With a batting average of 61.62, his climb up the ranks has been amazing.
Travis Head and Temba Bavuma Climb the Rankings
Australia and India are currently locked in an exciting five-match series on Australian soil. Travis Head has made a big move, jumping six spots to take the fifth rank after his incredible 140 runs in the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy match in Adelaide. His performance was a key factor in Australia’s dominant ten-wicket win.
South Africa’s 2-0 Victory Over Sri Lanka
After obtaining 78 and 66 runs in the second test match in Gqeberha by Temba Bavuma from South Africa moved to the seventh position. For achieving up to 327 runs and performing steadily, he won the Player of the Series award.
Australia's Marnus Labuschagne, showing signs of a return to form, also climbed three spots to 13th after his steady 64 in the pink-ball Test in Adelaide.
