Pakistan Batter Fined for ICC Code of Conduct Breach During IND vs PAK Clash

Pakistan experienced batter Sidra Amin was fined and given one demerit point by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching the Code of Conduct during the Women’s World Cup 2025 match played against India at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium.
This incident occurred in the 40th over when Amin was dismissed by Sneh Rana after she scored an important 81 runs in a crucial situation. Even after her strong performance, Pakistan were bowled out for 159 runs, falling short of India’s 247 runs, and lost the match by 88 runs.

The ICC stated that Sidra Amin breached Article 2.2 of its Code of Conduct, which covers “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings during an international match.” She admitted her mistake and accepted the penalty suggested by Shandré Fritz from the ICC panel, so no formal hearing was required.

This was her first offence in the past 24 months. The charges were laid by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, and were supported by third umpire Kerrin Klaaste and fourth umpire Kim Cotton. Sidra Amin accepted the penalty suggested by Shandré Fritz from the ICC International Panel of Match Referees. The ICC rule explained that for a Level 1 breach Code of Conduct.
The ICC rule explained that for a Level 1 breach of the Code of Conduct, the minimum punishment is an official warning for the player, while the maximum can be up to 50% of the player’s match fee and one or two demerit points.
