New Zealand to Tour India in January 2026 for 8-Match White-Ball Series: Reports
Looks like Team India will be hosting New Zealand for a white-ball series in January 2026. As per a report by The Times of India, the tour will feature 8 matches — 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. The venues haven’t been locked in yet, but this series could be perfect preparation for the T20 World Cup happening later that year in India.
The five T20Is will give New Zealand asolid opportunity to get familiar with Indian conditions ahead of the T20 World Cup here next year. Meanwhile, the three ODIs will help both teams test their squads and start shaping up for the 2027 50-over World Cup. The tour is set to begin on January 11 and conclude on January 30, giving both sides plenty of time to prepare for the big ICC events coming up.
New Zealand Stunned India 3-0 in Tests Last Time They Toured
According to the report, the plan for now is to go ahead with just the white-ball series, with no Test matches scheduled between the two sides. That said, things could change as the tour gets closer.
New Zealand last visited India in 2024 for a 3-match Test series — and they shocked everyone by winning it 3-0. It was a big blow for India, as the loss hurt their chances of reaching the World Test Championship final. Things only got worse when they went on to lose to Australia too, ending their WTC campaign.
This time, India will be keen to settle the score and get some revenge in the 8-match white-ball series.
