LSG Pacers Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan and Naman Tiwari to Train in SA20 Before IPL 2026

Lucknow Super Giants have started their training for the IPL 2026 season. The team, captained by Rishabh Pant, has chosen to send 3 domestic bowlers to South Africa for training purposes. The pacers will work on their training with the Durban Super Giants squad, LSG’s sister franchise in the SA20. The new season of the SA20 series will start on December 26, 2025, and continue until January 25, 2026. According to Cricbuzz, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, and Naman Tiwari have already confirmed their departure for Durban next week for training.

However, they might be joined by one or two player representatives. LSG has already received performance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), allowing all three since they are not participating in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Avesh and Mohsin are presently injured. Both Avesh and Mohsin had knee surgeries in July and were ruled out for at least 6 months. Avesh played 13 matches for LSG this season, but he hasn't played any match since then, while Mohsin's last match was on December 31, 2024.

Regarding Naman, he hasn't been selected in the Uttar Pradesh squad for the VHT and hasn't debuted at the domestic level. Avesh, 20, was acquired for INR 1 Crore by LSG in the IPL 2026 Auction after Rajasthan Royals showed interest in the left-arm bowler, who can bowl above 140 kmph.

The bowlers will be mentored by Lance Klusener, Tom Moody, Bharat Arun, and Carl Crowe in Durban Super Giants. Among them, the last three are also part of the support staff of LSG and can check their performance till IPL 2026, as it will be the first experience for Moody and Bharat with LSG.

It is not clear whether Avesh, Mohsin, and Naman would like to continue with the Durban Super Giants. Notably, the two players have had time to work on their fitness. They could be tried and used in the league match that will take place on January 22 as part of the 2025-26 Ranjan Trophy. It will be the players’ debut in the UP team.
