After an exciting 10 days of action, the next match of the season will be played between the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, and last season's runner-up, Sunrisers Hyderabad. Kolkata Knight Riders, after a significant defeat against Mumbai Indians in their last match, will try to make a strong comeback against Hyderabad at their home ground, Eden Gardens. In their last match against the Mumbai Indians, KKR lost the game by 8 wickets after scoring just 116 runs in the first innings, facing lethal bowling from the Mumbai Indians. Debutant Ashwini Kumar shackled the KKR lineup, taking four wickets in just 3 overs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi was the highest run-scorer for KKR, scoring 26 runs 

Before that, the team lost the inaugural match of the season against Royal Challengers Bengaluru but made a strong comeback against Lucknow, thanks to the magnificent innings from wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock. For the top order, Kolkata has all-rounder Sunil Narine and last match's best performer, Quinton de Kock, for the opening. Meanwhile, the new captain, Ajinkya Rahane, who has shown aggressive batting intent for this tournament, will bat at number 3. The team will have key all-rounder Andre Russell in the middle order, along with lethal spin options like Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine.
