Josh Inglis shines on Test debut with a century against Sri Lanka in Galle
The Test series between Sri Lanka and Australia has started on January 29 at Galle. The Australian captain Steven Smith won the toss and chose to bat against Sri Lanka. Day 1 was dominated by Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, and Smith. On Day 2 the debut wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis scored an amazing century in just 90 balls.
The star batter Josh Inglis had a memorable start to his Test career on January 30. He became the 21st Australian and overall 118th batter to score a century on his debut in men's Test cricket. Charles Bannerman was the first Australian to score a century on his debut, he scored an unbeaten 165 runs against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in March 1877.

Josh Inglis came to bat at No. 5 for the Australian team and scored 102 runs in just 94 balls with 10 fours and a six in his innings. Josh and Khawaja build a strong partnership by scoring 146 runs for the fourth wicket. The experienced batter Khawaja scored a double-century against Sri Lanka.

With his excellent batting skills, Josh Inglis became the seventh Australian to score a century on Test debut in an overseas match. He joined the elite list of legendary cricketers like Dirk Wellham, Michael Clarke, Harry Graham, Shaun Marsh, Adam Voges, and Marcus North. Josh Inglis became only the second Australian to achieve this historic milestone in Sri Lanka.
