Ishan Kishan Named Jharkhand Captain for Ranji Trophy 2025–26 After Injury Comeback

[ Poll: 8LD0avLk ]

Good news has come for star wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan, who has been waiting for a comeback to Team India. After a long injury layoff, Ishan has once again been given the responsibility of captaincy. The Jharkhand Cricket Association (JCA) has appointed him as the captain of the team for the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy season.

On the road to recovery, Ishan Kishan has been out of Team India for the past few months. Despite performing well in the County Championship, he had to withdraw midway due to injury. For the same reason, he also pulled out of the Duleep Trophy, where he was supposed to lead the East Zone. Now, with the Ranji Trophy captaincy, his return to the field is confirmed.

Ishan Kishan to Lead Jharkhand in Ranji Trophy 2025–26 After Injury Comeback

Jharkhand has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming season. Ishan Kishan will be the captain and main wicketkeeper, while experienced batsman Virat Singh has been named vice-captain. Young spin all-rounder Anukul Roy and wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Kushagra, along with other talented players, have also been included. Jharkhand will begin their campaign against Tamil Nadu from October 15.

Ishan Kishan will return to the field after nearly three and a half months. He last played in June for Nottinghamshire in County Cricket in England, scoring half-centuries in two matches. Before that, in April–May, he featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for Mumbai Indians (MI).

Jharkhand squad:

Ishan Kishan (Captain), Virat Singh (Vice-captain), Sharandeep Singh, Shikhar Mohan, Kumar Kushagra, Kumar Suraj, Anukul Roy, Manishi, Vikas Kumar, Jatin Kumar Pandey, Vikas Singh, Aditya Singh, Sahil Raj, Shubham Singh, Aryaman Singh, and Rishav Raj.
