IPL Star Vaibhav Suryavanshi to Lead Bihar’s Charge as Vice-Captain

IPL Star Vaibhav Suryavanshi to Lead Bihar’s Charge as Vice-Captain

[ Poll: vwGz99Z3 ]

India U19 star Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s impressive performances in the IPL 2025 and during the tours of England and Australia have earned him the role of Bihar’s vice-captain for the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy season.

Earlier, reports had suggested that the Bihar team couldn’t be named because there weren’t enough selectors in place. But that issue has now been resolved, and the state has announced its 15-member squad ahead of the season starting on October 15.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi to Lead Bihar as Vice-Captain

According to reports, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been named Bihar’s vice-captain for the first phase of the Ranji Trophy 2025. Bihar will begin their campaign against Arunachal Pradesh on October 15, followed by a match against Manipur on October 25.

The 14-year-old will serve as the deputy to captain Sakibul Gani. Playing for India Under-19 at the age of 14, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) prodigy has hammered centuries in England and Australia. In 5 Youth ODIs vs England, he mustered 355 runs at 71.00 and at an unreal strike rate of 174.02.

Talk about domination. And everyone knows about his impeccable century at IPL 2025. He is the youngest-ever player to hit a hundred in T20 and Indian Premier League (IPL) history.

At the age of 14, Suryavanshi scored a 35-ball hundred against the Gujarat Titans (GT). Although he faced a failure in his last Youth Test after scoring 20 and 0, Suryavanshi slammed a 113-run knock in the 1st Test against Australia. He will now be hoping to boost his credentials further by faring well for Bihar in Ranji Trophy 2025/26.

Bihar Ranji Trophy 2025/26 squad: Piyush Kumar Singh, Bhashkar Dubey, Sakibul Gani (c), Vaibhav Suryavanshi (vc), Arnav Kishor, Ayush Loharuka, Bipin Saurabh, Amod Yadav, Nawaz Khan, Sakib Hussain, Raghvendra Pratap Singh, Sachin Kumar Singh, Himanshu Singh, Khalid Alam, Sachin Kumar.
