He has 12 fifties to his name, with his best score being 93. Over the years, he has smashed 223 fours and 84 sixes. Although he has rarely been used as a wicketkeeper in the IPL, his keeping skills could be an asset for the CSK team.

Ishan Kishan

Kishan is strong against pace, and the numbers point at that, striking at 142.14. Even in a bad season like the 2025 one, the left-hander amassed 354 runs, averaging 35.4, with a hundred and a fifty. If he does replace Dhoni, CSK will benefit greatly, given his attributes at the top of the order.

Bought for Rs 6.25 crore, Devon Conway has proved to be a steady and dependable opener for CSK. The left-hander brings balance to the top order, especially when facing right-arm fast bowlers.

He has done well for New Zealand in both T20 and Test cricket, and has carried that form into the IPL, scoring 924 runs in 23 matches for CSK. He can also keep wickets, which makes him a handy player who can play more than one role for the team.
