IPL 2026: KKR Lose Another Pacer, Akash Deep Ruled Out Amid Growing Injury Concerns

The problems are not stopping for Kolkata Knight Riders. Another fast bowler has been ruled out of Indian Premier League 2026. Akash Deep is the latest player to get injured and will miss the whole season. KKR are already without the services of Harshit Rana in the upcoming season, whereas Matheesha Pathirana is set to join the team only by mid-April.

KKR Face Fresh Injury Setbacks Ahead of IPL 2026

As per Cricbuzz, Akash Deep has been ruled out of Indian Premier League 2026 due to injury. The fast bowler has not joined the Kolkata Knight Riders camp yet. Instead, he is at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, where he is recovering and doing rehab. Deep, who was previously a part of LSG, was bagged by KKR for Rs 1 crore at the mini-auction in December 2025. A PTI news report claims that Akash Deep has sustained a lower back injury.

“Unfortunately, he is out of the IPL, ruled out for the season,” the KKR official said.

Rana underwent a knee surgery following which reports claimed that he is set to miss bulk of IPL 2026. Pathirana, who was injured in the lead up to the T20 World Cup 2026, is yet to completely recover. He will have to clear a fitness test as mandated by Sri Lanka Cricket and only then will he be given a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to take part in IPL.
